Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, October 12, 2004 | I'm still musing on "I kissed dating gdbye". Almost half-way thru da bk. It has kept my mind occupied wheneva i travel ard. I calculated dat I wld spend at least 3hrs on traveling each day. Oh wellz, I can kinda fulfil my reading pleasure along da way except dat falling aslp, geting irritated wif da bumpy bus etc occasionally.
Joshua Harris: I love love...Oh, I can tell you all abt the warm, fuzzy side of love. I can throw myself into romance wif all the passion of Romeo, but in God's sch of true love, I'm afraid I'm still in kindergarden...Romance can thrill us to our core, but it's only a small part of true love. We've been playing in the sandbox; God wants to take us to the beach.
By inflating da importance of feelings, we neglect the importance of puting love in action. When we evaluate the quality of our love for someone else simply by our own emotional fulfillment, we are being
<> If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, October 12, 2004 | What if i stumble? What if i fall?
What if i lose myself and I make fools of us all?
Will the love cont? When my walk becum a crawl?
// (I duno how this'll ever get to you. But sumhow, i hope. Becos I really do care and you matter alot to me. Believe it ornot.) Right from the beginning, it was merely solicitude. I can't comprehend the extent of ya tots. Would you just turn bac n tok to me? It's totally innocuous. Apart from that, I dun wish for our relationship to remain in such jeopardy.
// Stroppy James, my oh so beloved bro who spoke wif so much ignorance nearly reap another vendetta. I'm still waiting for him to grow up and quit being on the warpath for things dat doesnt even matter.
Holy spirit,
touch me frm above/ fill me with ya love/ move upon my life/ stirs me inside
and I yield to you. Spirit of the Lord, do ya work in me.
Amen.

Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, October 10, 2004 | It has been a pretty long day for me.
-After breakfast wif my family, rushed off to RDMM at Joo Chiat.
I'm once again inspired by wad Priscilla had shared and it really sets me thinking. I could totally imagine the exciting days ahead! But I know for sure this will include lotsa hardwork and FAITH (of coz) It's time to quit
-Next stop, Zing, Ruth, Ollie, Bruce, JunYao, Davids and I headed down the road to Haagen-Daz! All 8 of us redeemed our free scoop of Haagen-Daz ice cream at once. The poor manager is kept busy wif unpleasant visits like ours. lol. We didnt even purchase anything else. It's kinda paisei but who cares anyway? heez.
-Finally, Zing remembered to lent me her bk. "I kissed dating goodbye" by Joshua Harris. Everyone has been saying this's a pretty gd bk. Even PrisGoh and Ingrid has it. So i started reading as soon as I got on the bus -my source of entertainment for the 50mins journey home. I tot it wld sum kinda "turn off" bk that argues bout why we sldnt dating n stuff but it's actually more bout all of our relationships.
Joshua said in his bk that some people who hear bout my decision not to date till I'm ready for marriage assue that my heart must've broken. No, my heart was made new by my Saviour. The change in my attitude was the result of realizing the implications of belonging to Him. The Son of God died for me! He came to free me from the hopelessness of living for myself. That had to change everything- including my love life. Knowing and Obeying Him became my top priority. I wanted to please Him in my realtionships even it meant looking radical and foolish to other people- even it meant kissing dating gdbye... After all, when we engage in BRG, we're not always choosing between absolute wrong and absolute right. Often the choice is between what's gd and what's best.
-Home sweet home. Each time I yearn for a spiritual breakthru, oppositions followed through. I'm not surprised though. My aunt and cousin who were supposed to join my family for dinner had sum discussions bout me going to church again, stating untrue facts and irritating comments. Thankfully, I'm glad I didnt talk back to them or do wad I wld do in the past to justify myself. I kept calm and obeyed the holy spirit's prompting. They may not understand rite nw and there's much I can say/explain that wld get across their hardened skulls. I just had to show it through my life. I pray that they'll look beyond the silly mistakes i made in the past and realise the positive change in me.
-Emmeline accompanied me to the doctor. Nothing serious (Mummy insisted that I sld go), just wanted to obtain the right medication for my skin rashes etc. Afterwards, I went to her hse for awhile and we jogged, rather briskwalked bac to my hse. It feels really gd to be able to spend quality time with her this way. In sum way, it brings back childhood memories, the times we used to stay in Yishun. Since the cause of my skin irritation is prob due to my dusty room, Emme helped me with the clean up. In fact, my entire hse is a total shambles. Thanks so much Emmeline! I really appreciate it in every way. I'm sure my bro is eternally grateful for ya tutoring as well. you know, I can never help him wif Chinese but you're the saviour of the day! Well, at least, you got his eyes off the computer and his lazy bum off the chair. You make a great teacher! So, if you dun wanna a doctor, you could still be a teacher or sum sorta. He probably still nid ya help for da next few days. I cant help him wif Geo. I sux at it! Once again, thankew! *muacks *hugs
hmm...dat sums up my Sunday.
I'm looking forward to a new week! oh Lord, let's start all over again :D
Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, October 10, 2004 | Lalaaa...I could say this a million, trillion times and it's still so true in my life. That one day in the house of God is betta than a thousand days in the world!~ The usual church service is in fact the highlight of my entire week, I just can't get enuff of it! It's sooo gd to juz be in the presence of God and everything else simply rocks in church! Well, it ain't perfect but it's exciting n all!
[ *Everything to me ]
When i feel down i look to you
When i feel low your words ring true
Its not by might or in my strength
But its by your spirit moving in my life
Cos God you are my life
I will praise you
you're everything to me
I'll live for you
You're the reason that i sing
I won't go back to the way it used to
beCos i've found you and your everything to me
At times when i look down and all i see is Sinking sand
I'm thankful that it's you the solid rock on Which i stand

Posted by Philothea` @ Saturday, October 09, 2004 | Hey my darling Effie Chan,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! happy sweet sixteen! happy holidays! :D
I've no doubt that you're enjoying yaself in Canada.
I'm so proud of you! Congratz! *grinz
I'm missing you tons n lots! (esp the times we spent in IJ, guides, church etc.) I pray that you'll keep up with that humble, gentle & sweet spirit of yours. Remember the song you suggested for Guides Sec 4 farewell sum two years ago? Here's it dedicated just to you my dear...
- If we hold on together - by Diana Ross
Don't lose your way with each passing day
You've come so far, don't throw it away
Live believing, dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story, faith hope and glory
Hold to the truth in your heart
If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by, for you and I
:
Souls in the winds must learn how to mend
Seek out a star, hold on to the end
Valley, mountain
There is a fountain
Washes our tears all away
:
Words are swaying, someone is praying
Please let us come home to stay
When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark, we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone
If we hold on together, I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
As high, as souls can fly
The clouds roll by, for you and I
Distance can't tear us apart. We'll soar on wings like eagles to where God takes us to be. Let's tell of all the wondrous things He has done in our lives. Yet, another song, we sang at the airport before your flight departure. Keep in mind k?!
Wherever you go, wherever you may wander in your life
Surely you know He's always gonna be there
Holding your hand and standin' by to catch you when you fall
Seeing you through in everything you do.
Let HIM be there in your morning
let HIM be there in your night
Let HIM change whatever's wrong and make it right
Let HIM take you through that wonder land that only two can share
All I ask you is let HIM be there.

And I worship at Your throne
I will look to see Your power and glory
